Emergency Appointment

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

Call us the same day if you have:

  • Severe or throbbing toothache that painkillers aren’t controlling
  • Swelling in your gum, face or jaw, or a suspected abscess
  • A broken, chipped or knocked-out tooth
  • A lost filling or crown that’s causing pain
  • Bleeding that won’t stop after an extraction

A lost crown with no pain, or a small chip, can usually wait a day or two, but still call us so we can book you in and give you advice in the meantime. Speed makes a real difference to whether it can be saved.

Our role is to assess your situation quickly, relieve discomfort, and explain the safest next steps. We focus on stabilising the problem first, then planning any further treatment clearly and calmly.

Your appointment

What Happens at Your Emergency Appointment

We’ll ask about your symptoms, examine the area and take X-rays if we need them. Then we’ll explain what’s causing the problem in clear, simple terms.

Treatment on the day is about getting you comfortable: draining an abscess, dressing a painful tooth, a temporary filling or re-cementing a crown. If you need more, like a root canal or an extraction, we’ll talk you through the options and the cost before booking anything.
