Children's Dentistry

At Harwood Dental Care, we believe that the journey to good oral health starts in the early years of childhood. At our practice, we do we all can to instill good habits in our younger patients.

  • Teaching our children healthy dental care can instill good habits that will last a lifetime
  • Early visits can help form a positive relationship with visits to the dentist
  • Little teeth need just as much care as bigger ones!

Children's Dentistry

At Harwood Dental Care, we pride ourselves on our commitment to teaching children about good oral health. We also ensure that parents are informed about how best to aid their children along this journey. We are able to aid you in teaching your children about how important it is to clean their teeth properly, as well as show them what they need to do. We can also talk to them about healthy eating, and identify any potential problems, such as alignment issues, as soon as they become visible. Above all, we want you and your children to feel relaxed and welcome during your visit. If one of your little ones (or even one of your older ones) cries or gets fidgety, we want you to rest assured that our staff are completely understanding of this – children will be children, after all! What matters most of all is that your children grow up viewing dental care as an essential part of their self-care, so that they can feel confident about their smile for the rest of their lives. Common Children's Dentistry Questions

At what age should my child start visiting the dentist?

We advise bringing your child to see us once their first milk teeth appear. Not only can we give you useful advice on how best to care for your child’s teeth, it also helps them become accustomed to regular visits to the dentist – a habit that they will hopefully maintain for the rest of their life.

What should I do if my child is afraid of visiting the dentist?

Our team are well-versed in dealing with anxious patients, both big and small. If your child is nervous, their dentist will take the appropriate steps to make them feel as comfortable and safe as possible. That said, bringing along a favorite toy always helps!

Is it too late to instill good dental habits in my child?

No, of course not! If taught in the right manner, and with consistency, it’s never too late to teach someone how to take care of their teeth properly. Our team are always happy to dish out some well-worn advice!
