Nervous Patients

It’s common to feel anxious about visiting the dentist, and while we understand that the requirements of every patient are different, we’d rather you not risk your dental health by avoiding the dentist altogether! At Harwood Dental Care, we are always happy to accommodate our more nervous patients, and our staff are fully equipped to offer a variety of solutions that might make your visit a little more pleasant.

Here are some of our own tips for reducing any anxiety during your visit:

  • Book a morning appointment, for as early as 8 am, so you have the rest of the day to unwind and relax
  • Bring a friend to your appointment who will support you
  • Ask questions and talk to us openly about your treatment – we will never rush your appointment or consultation
  • Agree a stop signal with your dentist prior to beginning treatment to ensure you can stop it at any time

If necessary, we are also able to offer a sedation option, which induces a sleep-like state. This method is perfectly safe and reliable – principal dentists Dipesh and Vilas Patel have both achieved additional qualifications in dental sedation to ensure you are in safe, gentle and experienced hands. The sedation method is administered through a small needle in the crook of your arm, and will help you to feel relaxed and calm throughout your treatment. A frequent pleasant side effect is the feeling that the treatment has taken much less time than it actually has!

If you need calming or sedating during your appointment, we are always happy to help. For more information about our services or to book an appointment, please get in touch today. Call us on 01204 304568 or email info@harwooddentalcare.co.uk.
